Runs That Follow the Land
We laid out each run to follow the natural contours of the pasture. Post spacing stays consistent the whole way, and the four boards line up evenly from post to post. As a result, the paddock fence reads as one continuous line across the property, from the road frontage back along the gravel lane.
A Long Paddock Fence Run Along the Lane
The longest stretch follows the gravel drive out to the road, past a stand of tall pines. Another run lines the lane through open pasture. Because a board fence is easy to see, it works well along a drive where horses and drivers both need a clear edge. Wire Mesh and a Farm Gate Near the House
Close to the farmhouse and at the drive, welded wire mesh runs behind the boards of the paddock fence. It closes the gaps between them. A black, wire-filled farm gate opens onto the gravel, with an equine activity liability notice hung on it. By the porch, a wood picket walk gate ties the paddock into the house.
